In going through photos I came across this one.  There is nothing written on it to inform us of where this may be.  The stamped date by the photo developer said APRIL 1938.  While it could have been taken at that time, I believe it was taken during the winter months.  Based on other photos that were taken with it, I believe the photographer was either our Kermit or Eunice.  

It is the sole photo like this on the roll of film.  And I ask myself, why?   Perhaps it was to document damage on the property.  But it could have been something else entirely.  10 years prior to this photo, Ansel Adams had begun taking photographs of nature and landscapes in and around Yosemite.  In researching, I found many photo galleries offered classes on how to take photographs this way.  Perhaps this was an attempt at taking a “pure landscape” photograph.  

I find it very intriguing the contrast of the dark bare trees and white sky and frozen field.  And while I haven’t found any other photographs like this, perhaps we can look upon it as the gift it is.  A moment in which nature will always be forever in winter.  

However, cold the winter, 
however dark the night hours, 
the dawn is sure to come.  
Each sunrise and every sunset
has so much warmth to bring.  
However cold the winter, 
it always ends in spring.
